My journey in the nonprofit industry started when I was still a student. That’s right! I was taking up my degree in Political Science at the Tuskegee University when I tried my hand for the first time at grant proposal writing. It was just a class assignment back then, but I didn’t know that it will open up doors of opportunities and unlock my potential at grant writing and fundraising
What I wrote as a grant proposal for a class assignment was awarded $250,000 from HUD for Drug & Alcohol elimination in the public housing community of King sport, TN. Imagine how shocked I was to be able to clinch a grant funding so big for my first time writing a grant proposal. But since then, I never looked back.
Since then, I have grown to hold every single job in a nonprofit and in every single one of them, I have expertly showed leaders how program, finance, and fund development must work together for organizational sustainability.
They often say time flies, but I realized time flies faster when you are productive. Fast forward over 30 years of productive work in the nonprofit industry, I am now sharing my expertise in the areas of grant writing, major fundraising, strategic planning, program development, and organizational assessment to some of the largest nonprofit organizations in the country.
Through out this journey, I have already trained thousands of nonprofit executives, board members, and fundraising staff raise $300,000,000 in funding. This is why people affectionately call me “The Grant Guru” and “The Nonprofit Expert”. To this day, I continue to coach board members, nonprofit leaders, fundraisers, and entrepreneurs. If you mission is to help your community, MY MISSION is to help you help your community. So, shall we?
